Once again, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment - The Right to Bear Arms. As it states in the second amendment, the right to bear arms shall not be infringed. This means all the lawyers, politicians, anti-gun advocates, shall not infringe on this right.
The second amendment protects the right to bear arms. This includes Guns of all sorts, Archery equipment, knifes, sling shots, and any other item that propels a projectile whether the intent is for sport, to obtain food such as hunting, or just for the sake of collecting.
This right is just as important as the First Amendment - Freedom of Speech.
It has been argued that when the founding fathers created the second amendment, they had not considered the fact that in the future, there would be modern weapons such as semi-automatic handguns and rifles. This is true. In the same respect, when they created the first amendment, they had not considered the use of modern printing for papers and magazines, or the use of computers, the Internet, and movies. I know, let's eliminate the First Amendment also. Sorry, this would upset all the people who want and would defend the first amendment. We must defend ALL of the Bill of Rights. That's what our nation is founded on.
I do not always agree with issues and words of other groups, but I will defend their Freedom of Speech under the Bill of Rights. If any of the Bills Of Rights like the second amendment can be removed, it leave the door wide open for all the other amendments. Think about it.
When the founding fathers created the first amendment, they needed something strong to defend that right. That's why there is a second amendment. To defend the first amendment. Let us not forget, that the freedoms that we have did not come cheap. Our founding fathers fought and died to defend these rights. It is up to us to preserve them.
It has been stated that if you remove the guns from our society, there will be less crime. If you remove the guns from the law-abiding citizens, that won't stop crime. Who out there really believe that more gun laws will stop criminals from getting guns? HELLO.... Ever here of the black market. Gun laws only affect law-abiding citizens. Criminals don't care about the laws, they laugh at them. Why should we have to give up our rights because of the actions of criminals and lack of courage of law makers to enforce the current laws?
As for the Brady Bill, it is true; it has stopped 27,000 criminals from getting guns. I think that is fine. During the senate hearings, it was stated that the purpose of the Brady Bill was to stop criminals from getting guns, not to prosecute them. Is there something wrong with this picture. If a person is found guilty of a crime, they are banned from purchasing a gun for life. If they attempt to purchase a gun, they are supposed to be prosecuted for the attempt. Hello... Earth to legal system.... Why aren't these criminals prosecuted for this attempt? If they do try, the lawyers and prosecutors plea bargain (there's a word) to a lessor charge. There are also the arguments that the court system is so full, that they can't handle the extra cases. Create more courts not more gun laws (as we all know, there are enough lawyers to fill them). If your enforce the laws already on the books, instead of creating new laws, crime will be reduced. In almost all cases, none of the criminals were prosecuted for the attempt to purchase the gun... in direct violation of the law, which states they should be prosecuted.
Let's see if this is a motivation for not committing a crime. Shoot a person, Get sent to prison for 10 to 20 years, (of which you get Free food, Free education, Free cable, Free room and board, Free exercise equipment) act good and get out in 7 to 10 years to a society where you have to work for all the items that you just left and got for Free. I tell you, that is an incentive to stay out. Why should a criminal get all those items? It is suppose to be punishment. Why should a criminal live in better conditions and have more rights than a law-abiding citizen. I'll tell you.... it would be cruel and unusual punishment to have any other conditions. Tell the family of the victim what is cruel and unusual punishment.
Don't get me wrong, I feel very badly about all the school shooting, like Columbine High School, and as a parent, I am deeply concerned, but let's put the blame in the right place. Guns don't kill people, People kill people. If I set a gun on a desk in the middle of a crowd, no one would be shot. In order for someone to be shot, the following has to take place:
Is it only me or does anyone else see a common denominator. That's right, a person is the common denominator. Not the Gun, or the Gun manufacturer, but the person. I am tired of hearing that the criminals are a victim of society, guns are too easy to obtain, and gun manufacturers are at fault. HELLO.... Ever here of being responsible for your own actions. That is what being an adult means. I have to be responsible for my actions, why not make criminal responsible for theirs. Let's stop trying to blame someone else for our own actions. If the criminal is a minor, make the parents responsible... After all they are raising them. I know what goes on in my household. I find it very difficult to think that the parents of the boys, who did the shooting in Colorado, did not have any clue of what they were doing. No matter how busy I get, I stay involved with my children's lives.
Next, You have the attorneys who will sue everyone to get a settlement. I can see suing the criminal, his estate or the parents if he is not of age. But to sue the gun manufacturer for the actions of an adult, who had the intent to kill, give me a break, that is nothing but an attorney trying to get rich. They say, "We are not in it for the money, but to see that justice is served." I wonder how many of the attorneys are representing the families for free. Is Fieger doing this for free? I doubt it.
Think about this, If our men and women of the armed forces, can use weapons to kill enemies that threaten our very freedom, If they can use weapons to defend our very country, but as private citizens, not have the right to defend their own home and families, how can our law makers justify this or better yet, sleep at night. If you are out on the streets and a criminal attacks you, you don't have time to call 911. Who has more rights at that point you or the criminal? If the criminal is not killed in self-defense, the criminal can sue you for destroying their lives. Something is wrong here when the criminal can sue the victim. Once again, make the criminal responsible for their own actions, not the guns or the gun manufacturers.
When all the lawmakers in Washington DC were elected to office, they took an oath to uphold the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. This includes the Second Amendment. They are to defend these rights, not try to eliminate them just to stay in office. I wonder what Senator Shuller would say about his attempt to weaken or eliminate the second amendment. I am sure he would use the Texas sidestep in order get around the issue and to stay in office.
Finally, if I have offended anyone from the use of my Freedom of Speech, I am very sorry. That was not my intent. My intent is to make America wake up and take action. Make those responsible for the crimes, like people, held accountable for their actions. Stop placing blame on others. Make the judges and lawyers uphold the current laws. Make criminals serve their full sentences. If after serving, they try to purchase a gun, prosecute them again. Do it over and over until they learn or no longer are a threat to society. If we don't stand up for the Bill of Rights, including the second amendment, they will slowly be removed at the hands of over reactive parents, politicians who will do or say anything to remain in office and will ride the current fear to do so, the lawyers who are out for the money...I'm sorry.. I mean the rights of the victims, and the legal system who does not have the courage to make the criminals accountable for their actions by enforcing the all the thousands of gun laws on the books today.
